This whole "post once a week" thing hasn't been working out so well.
In my defense, last week we started our daily rehearsals for the yearly January opera performance at my Uni. These rehearsals are five to six hours long, and have been starting late in the evening because the Spring semester courses for this year also started last week. Personally I think the timing/scheduling for everything could have worked out a lot better, but nobody ever asks the students about it, because it's not like we're the ones who are actually affected by everything.
This semester's opera has been both easier and harder than usual. It's been easier because it's Mozart, and timing-wise, there are large periods of time where people rotate on/off stage, so not everyone has to be on stage all the time. So there's a decent amount of downtime between times I'm actually singing, given that I'm only in the chorus this year.
On the other hand, since we're doing The Magic Flute, the chorus is only on stage 3 times, and all of them are at the end of each Act, so I get to spend roughly 45 minutes after the start of Act One doing nothing. And the same thing happens during Act Two except the chorus is on at the halfway point for a teen tiny period of time.
So, I'm frightfully bored when I'm not prepping to go on stage, and there's only so much homework one can do without access to hard copies of books that can't leave the library.
EDIT: And it's been use a long fucking day I can't spell. Also I'm about to punch a bitch because she won't shut the fuck up. I brought up a valid health concern about a business that allows smoking and she keeps say it's not a big deal. We're singers, it IS a BIG FUCKING DEAL.
It will probably be 'yo, still alive here" kind of stuff, but that's better than nothing, right?
SO, in order to give this thing some substance, for today's post I'll report on the local weather.
IT'S REALLY FUCKING COLD!!!
We've been consistently below or right around freezing for the past few days where I live. The last time I was this fucking cold, I voluntarily went to Chicago in January to meet up with my best friend for her birthday. And cold was totally expected there. I am however, grateful that all I am is cold, unlike the poor people everywhere north of me in the United States who are both cold AND buried under a fuck-ton of snow. My state has no idea what to do when we get half an inch of snow; I'd hate to see how bad it would be if we got any real accumulation.
Hmm... I should probably put up a warning or something. I've gotten WAYYYY more vulger/prone to swearing in the last couple of years than I was before.
Beware: this is going to be insanely pic heavy.
( For a limited time only... )
The first TEN people to comment in this post get to request that I write a drabble/ficlet of any pairing/character of their choosing*. In return, they have to post this in their journal, regardless of their ability level.
Please let me know by December 13th!
Long story short, if you want a Christmas card from me this year, comment on this post (or the one I linked) and then PM me with your contact info (Name, Address, that sort of thing). If you want to sent me one in return, just let me know & I'll give you my info as well.
Oh! and because it occured to me that not everyone celebrates Christmas (sorry, I am seven kinds of moron, I know) PLEASE let me know if you celebrate a holiday that ISN'T Christmas and I'll be sure to get a card that's appropriate.
Please let me know if you want a card by December 13th so I can get them out in a timely manner! :-D
In honour of having our first snow fall of the season, I dug out an old, unfinished fic, dusted it off and finished writing it. Enjoy.
Title: First Snowfall
Author: Analia (aka Analia_the_1st)
Beta: None. All mistakes are mine, and I’m sure there are a lot of them.
Characters: Elladan, Elrohir, Celebrían, Elrond, Erestor and Glorfindel
Pairing(s): Erestor/Glorfindel, Elrond/Celebrían
Rating: PG-13 (for implied sexuality, slash, and snowball violence)
Disclaimer: None of these characters are mine. I’m only doing this for fun and I’m not going to make an ounce of profit (unless you count the reviews). Everything belongs to JRR Tolkien, Tolkien Estates, New Line Cinema, and all those other lucky buggers.
Summary: The twins want someone to play with outside in the newly fallen snow.
Author’s Notes: This is a one-shot fic I started last January (I think) and finally getting our first “real” snowfall where I live inspired me to finish it. I didn’t bother rereading what I’d already written, so keep that in mind as you’re reading because some of the minor details may be slightly off. I am planning on going back through and fixing any major problems. If you see anything that really needs my attention, please let me know.
Review: Please, please, please? I love reviews. Good, bad, indifferent, critical. I’m not picky. I'd prefer critical reviews, but anything and everything is welcome.
